Vienna, Austria is a great place to visit. It is one of the cleanest cities I have been to. The people of Vienna, Austria truly care about the environment and do what is necessary to preserve it. I am telling you, the air just smells cleaner!
Language: German but English is spoken almost everywhere
Currency: The Euro
Population: 1.8 million (2016)
-Many famous composers were born in Vienna such as Mozart, Schubert, and Beethoven.
-Austria is consistently ranked as one of Europe’s top city to live in for a high quality of life.
-They are extremely environmentally friendly and have multiple bins in public for recyclable waste.
Taking the metro is the easiest and most economical way to get around. Buses, trams and trains are also available. You can buy a Vienna Travelcard for 48 or 72 hours that allows you to ride all public transportation for that duration.
The people of Austria are very environmentally conscious and live a very healthy lifestyle. All of the sidewalks in Vienna had a bike lane that residents used for both a mode of transportation as well as for staying physically fit. They take their bike lanes very seriously….DO NOT stand in one, you will get run over.
Everyone that we encountered in Vienna spoke English (props to their school system) and were very kind and welcoming. The people at our hotel were very supportive when I tried to use my horrific German and encouraged me to keep practicing.
Austrian’s dress conservatively so you may want to leave the cargo shorts and tank tops at home. The people always looked very put together and the only time you would see black leggings was when they were actually working out.
Things To Do:
Vienna is a bustling metropolis for fashion, music, food, art and night life. You will never run out of things to do during your stay. There is literally something to do for everyone. This is a great city to explore and take in the sights of the beautiful buildings, parks, and monuments. If you can, be sure to fit in a concert or performance at the Opera House.
